The “Open Day in Budvar” commemorating the 120th anniversary of the brewery’s founding takes place on Saturday, with the “Anniversary Special” being on tap

Budweiser Budvar, N. C. is commemorating the 120th anniversary of its founding. The first batch of beer of a mere 200 hectolitres was brewed on 7th October 1895. On the occasion, several limited editions of Budweiser Budvar beer in cans and bottles have occurred on the market throughout this year. Furthermore, the brewery has prepared some cultural events (finalising the reconstruction of the multimedia exposition “The Story of Beer from Budweis”, publishing an extensive book on the brewery’s history as well as theatrical evening tours of the brewery in historical costumes). The celebrations for the general public are going to culminate with the traditional “Open Day in Budvar” on Saturday 12th September 2015.

“A lavish musical programme has been prepared for this year’s Open Day in Budvar. A total of 17 bands are going to perform on two stages, with the biggest star being the legend of the Czech musical scene Karel Gott with the Boom Band Orchestra,” says Budweiser Budvar’s promotional events manager Petr Klein. The site will offer about 1000 seating places and some refreshments to go with beer. “As far as the beer on offer is concerned, I would like to draw attention to our drawn ‘Anniversary Special’, which is a limited edition of pale non-filtered yeast lager, which is gradually going to occur in a thousand Czech restaurants in the autumn,” adds Petr Klein. Between 12 a.m. and 8 p.m., a shuttle from the station in České Budějovice to the brewery and back is going to run free of charge. The main stage area is sheltered.      

The tickets can be purchased with the ticket agent at www.ticketportal.cz, in the Masné krámy restaurant and at the Music centre in České Budějovice. The tickets cost CZK 290 with the ticket agent or CZK 390 on the location. Children and persons below 150 cm do not pay (children can only attend with an adult who has a valid ticket; persons under 16 years of age are considered children).
