Throughout the years, the restaurant has become a cult beer restaurant, which belongs to the symbols of the town of České Budějovice and represents an important landmark, meeting place and prominent tourist destination. Doubtless, Masné krámy is one of the best-known restaurants in the Czech Republic, being even mentioned in the review of the prestigious guidebook Lonely Planet.
The Masné krámy restaurant has always enjoyed a great reputation mainly due to its perfectly treated beer from Budweiser Budvar Brewery, the most popular beer being Krausened lager Budweiser Budvar B:SPECIAL. Drawn directly from beer tanks here, it makes the restaurant the only place in the world to provide that. In the recent years, the restaurant has laid a special emphasis on increasing the gastronomy level as well. Its regular menu is primarily based on meat of all kinds and shapes. Moreover, the menu is livened up by thematic gourmet events nearly every month.
“We are proud of the long history of our restaurant. We intend to maintain it as a place, which is summed up in the following statement: If you haven’t visited the Masné krámy restaurant, you haven’t visited České Budějovice,” says Budweiser Budvar’s gastronomy department manager Tomáš Olejník, who has been in charge of the restaurant since 2007. “We would like to invite all fans of good beer, food and entertainment to our celebration, which is partially going to take place in Krajinská and Hroznová Streets. The guests will have the opportunity to try a whole roasted ox or roasted piglets, take part in prize-giving competitions and enjoy live music. What I particularly recommend is Saturday’s ‘Meat show’, where our head chef Luděk Hauser is going to show his skills in cooperation with a master butcher from the meat-packing plant CHARCUTERIE Písek, joint stock company,” adds Tomáš Olejník. On the occasion of both jubilees, the restaurant has prepared a set of original souvenirs - half-litre beer glass, ceramic beer mat, postcards and advertising banners.
