České Budějovice/Jihlava 3rd November 2011 – The results of the oldest existing competition on the Czech beer market were made public in Jihlava yesterday. The Beer Friends Association (hereinafter referred to as SPP) presented the best beer, breweries and brewing personalities of 2011 in a total of 12 categories. Two beers of the Budweiser Budvar brand made it in a competition of 298 beers - non-alcoholic beer came second and dark lager finished third.
“The results are very valuable since this competition takes into consideration the popularity of individual beers as well as its quality in the rounds, being the only one to do so in the Czech Republic,” says Budweiser Budvar’s PR manager Petr Samec. Budweiser Budvar brand’s beer has therefore been awarded six medals altogether at domestic as well as international beer contests this year. “The most valuable are two gold medals for Budweiser Budvar Premium Lager from Brussels and Tel Aviv,“ adds Petr Samec. This year saw Budweiser Budvar Non-Alcoholic Beer receive its first international medal, thus becoming an important export product. Presently it is being exported to nine countries; next year its export is expected to cover other countries as well. The volume of exported Budweiser Budvar Non-Alcoholic Beer has noted a year-on-year increase of 27% in the first three quarters of 2011.
