České Budějovice, 14th June 2019 – The beer taps in the iconic Masné krámy restaurant in ČeskéBudějovice were turned for the first time on 1st October 1 1954.This year, the restaurant is celebrating the 65th anniversary of itsceremonial opening for the public. The Masné krámy building probably dates backto 1554, having served as a slaughterhouse and meat market for severalcenturies. After World War II, the demolition of the building was seriouslyconsidered due to its critical condition. Fortunately, the opposite decisionwas eventually made. The historical building was rebuilt into a restaurant accordingto a design by the architect J. Fidra in 1953.
Thanks to the perfectly treated draft beer and excellent cuisine, the Masnékrámy quickly became one of the symbols of the town as well as the almostmandatory stop for tourists from home and abroad. The restaurant regularlyprepares a number of attractive offers for its guests; the 7th Masné krámyMusic FEST is going to be one of them. “Live music combined with a sit-down with beer andgrilled meat in the fresh air as well as a stroll through the town centre is veryattractive for a lot of people. We believe that the interest will be big thisyear as well,” says Budweiser Budvar’s gastronomy department manager Tomáš Olejník. About 300 seats will be prepared for theguests in the street. Four bands are going to perform on the stage in front ofthe Masné krámy restaurant, the main star being “Nezmaři”, which will start theconcert at 8:30 p.m. on 21st June. Grilled specialties will enrichthe standard menu and a whole spit-roast ox will be served on Saturday 22ndJune at around 12. All beef from private breeding will be supplied by the MúúúPísek meat processing plant.
Theopening of the festival takes place on 21st June at 18:15. Admissionis free. Krajinská and Hroznová Streets will be closed for car traffic fromFriday 21st June 10:00 to Sunday 23rd June 6:00.
The Masné krámy restaurantoffers not only great cuisine to its guests, but mainly perfectly treated drawnbeer. The guests can particularly savour Budweiser Budvar B:SPECIAL Krausened Lager. The restaurant is opendaily, on Monday to Thursday from 11:00 to 23:00, on Fridays and Saturdays from11:00 to midnight and on Sundays from 11:00 to 21:00. The restaurant’s capacity is 200 places.
