Budweiser Budvar Brewery has been achieving good economic results this year. In the period of January - July, the brewery’s beer sales noted a 10 % year-on-year increase. The sales of the brewery’s flagship product – Budweiser Budvar Premium Lager, accomplished an 8% year-on-year increase. Owing to a new can-filling hall, which was put into operation in February 2013, the sales of canned beer went up nearly twofold. This year’s newcomers in the brewery’s product range - non-filtered yeast beer “Budweiser Budvar Cvikl” and a mixed beverage from beer “PardálOVO bezové” were also instrumental in the good economic results. The sales of Somersby brand cider achieved a double year-on-year increase.
Budweiser Budvar’s sales increase was mainly supported by the export, which rose by 15%. Regardless of unfavourable climatic conditions affecting most of the main European markets, Budweiser Budvar accomplished increase with many large export markets due to extending its distribution and intensifying its trading activities. The local brewing industry was under pressure from various negative factors. “The economic uncertainty and related consumer unwillingness to spend money on inessential items of the family budgets, a very long winter, a cold spring along with June floods generally decreased the local demand for beer. In spite of that we managed to increase beer sales in the Czech Republic by 5%,” says Budweiser Budvar’s business manager Robert Chrt.
These days as well the brewery is working at full capacity in three-shift operations and some employees must work extra weekend shifts to satisfy all orders.
