The company needed only 12 years to brew one million hectolitres - this goal was conquered in 1907. The 10 million-hectolitre threshold was outdone in 1959. In 1996, the total volume of beer produced reached 25 million hectolitres. Despite the huge increase in production volume, Budweiser Budvar brews its beer using traditional craft procedures from natural ingredients of Czech origin. The original beer from Budweis can thus boast the Protected Geographical Indication logo.

Budweiser Budvar Brewery has confirmed the trend of a long-term growth of interest in Budweiser Budvar and Pardál brands beer, as on Thursday 11th February 2016 the brewery surpassed a 50-million hectolitre of beer volume produced. To illustrate this, the volume of beer would flood České Budějovice Square - an area of one hectare - up to a height of 500 metres, which is almost a sevenfold the height of the Black Tower - one of the symbols of the South Bohemian capital (Black Tower height is 71.9 metres). Considering the average annual flow of the Vltava river in České Budějovice (27.6 m3 times s-1) by the “Long Bridge”, the beer produced in the brewery so far would flow  in the river for more than two days (over 50 hours).

In the first year from its foundation (economic year 1895/1896), the brewery’s total production amounted to a mere 35,223 hl. The company only needed 12 years to brew one million hectolitres - this goal was conquered in 1907. The 10 million-hectolitre threshold was outdone in 1959. In 1996 - one hundred years after the company’s founding - the total volume of beer produced reached 25 million hectolitres.

During the last ten years, the brewery's annual production has increased by 39%. Despite the huge increase in the production volume, Budweiser Budvar still brews its beer using time-tested craft procedures. “We are proud to continue in the 750-year long tradition of brewing the original beer from Budweis. We have taken care of this tradition under the brand of Budweiser Budvar, keeping it for future generations. When producing our beer, we exclusively use the original ingredients, brewing only in České Budějovice. That is one reason why our beer can boast the Protected Geographical Indication,” says Budweiser Budvar’s managing director Jiří Boček. The Protected Geographical Indication guarantees consumers a genuine quality, therefore that the purchased product is not a cheap imitation and was made in a particular place using precisely defined ingredients and a specified manufacturing process. "Beer from Budweis is exported to 76 countries worldwide. We represent not only our brewery, but also significantly contribute to increasing the recognition of České Budějovice and the Czech Republic in the world,” adds Jiří Boček.

In 2015, Budweiser Budvar brewed more than 1.6 million hectolitres of beer, which represents an annual increase of almost 10%. Traditionally, the corporation achieved very good export results, as nearly 900,000 hectolitres went to 76 states, which is 10.5% more year-on-year. In the domestic market, the sales increased by 9%, exceeding a volume of 700,000 hectolitres. The corporation’s receipts annually increased by 8%, surpassing the value of CZK 2,550 million.
