Trademark disputes
The history of Budweiser Budvar trademarks disputes, concerning the “Budweiser” trademark in particular, dates back as far as the beginning of the last century. For years, representatives of one of the large American breweries had tried to get the rights from Budweiser Budvar to its trademarks, at first for the territory of the United States - an effort, which paid off just before the WWII. The representatives of this brewery have however continued in their endeavour to get Budweiser Budvar's trademarks to this day.
At present, Budweiser Budvar is therefore still defending its historical rights to its trademarks from court attacks of the Anheuser-Busch Inbev Company in 22 court disputes in 14 countries. In the period of 2000-2009, 115 court disputes and administrative procedures before patent offices were finalised, 82 of which resulting in favour of Budweiser Budvar. The vast majority of court rulings have thus confirmed Budweiser Budvar's rights to its trademarks.
