Special packaging for “PardálOVO” cans has received an award at the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2014
Last May saw the special “May packaging” of the mixed beverage from our beer “PardálOVO bezové” in cans appear on the Czech shop counters. Based on a simple construction, the packaging makes the product itself stand out. The innovative technical design is suitable for carrying 0.25 – 1 litre cans safely.
“Despite being firmly fixed in the cover, the cans can also be easily taken out. Moreover, the holes for fingers facilitate a comfortable transport of individual packs,” says Budweiser Budvar’s off-trade marketing manager Josef Kroulík. The packaging can be easily recycled, as it is made from ecological corrugated cardboard. Furthermore, the special packaging provides an interesting communication area. “Last year we used the special ‘May packaging’ when launching PardálOVO bezové on the market within the ‘We fine-tuned it in such a way so that we could both enjoy it’ campaign. The special promotional 2-can pack thus elegantly took the main idea of the whole communication campaign to the retail counters,” explains Josef Kroulík. During the summer season, the standard version of the promotional pack was used. “Since the packaging turned out to be effective, we expect to use it again during miscellaneous occasions in the future as well,” adds Josef Kroulík. The construction of the packaging had been designed by a Czech branch of the German company of THIMM Verpackung GmbH + Co. KG.
The special promotional 2-can pack has now received a golden star in the international WorldStar Packaging Awards 2014. The competition ranks amongst the most prestigious ones in the packaging industry. Only such designs that have won national packaging competitions on their local markets can take part in this contest, in our country this being the “Packaging of the Year” competition, which has been organised by the “SYBA” packaging association for the past 20 years. The last WorldStar Packaging Awards were attended by 316 packaging samples from 33 countries in seven categories. The applied samples were assessed by the panel using many criteria, such as content protection, easy handling, filling, opening and closing along with graphical design etc.
