Budweiser Budvar will support the ecological event of “The Malše River cleaning” again
Returning to this locality for the fourth time in a row, they will focus on removing all inappropriate objects from the riverbed. Last year, the divers drew out e.g. two bicycles, rusty pots, tyres, an exhaust pipe, different wires, a clutch release bearing as well as other spare parts. Furthermore, the riverbed was also home to a heavy excavator chain. 300 kilos of miscellaneous rubbish, scrap iron eventually ended up in the scrapyard.
“The exploit of the divers from the Octopus Divers Club is a very useful example of practical ecology and responsibility towards the environment. We hope it will have a particular educational effect on the general public, since it is quite sad that even after three years the volume of potentially dangerous litter at the bottom of the river did not significantly decrease,” adds Petr Samec, the PR manager of Budweiser Budvar Brewery, which is the event’s partner.
“This passage of the river was chosen for one simple reason - it is a place regularly used by the town’s residents to go swimming from spring to autumn. Not many people would believe how many dangerous objects can be found in the river. The purpose of our project is to not only contribute to the river’s cleaning, but also protect bathers from potential injuries,” stated Karel Exl, the instructor of the Octopus Divers Club in České Budějovice.
Budweiser Budvar has been further supporting its home region by investing in other projects, cultural ones in particular, such as The Theatre of South Bohemia, The Rose Feast, The Round Třeboň festival and the International Musical Festival in Český Krumlov. The 5th rock festival “Budvar Fest” takes place on Saturday 18th June in České Budějovice. The Budweiser Budvar brand will also be the general partner of festivals Basinfirefest in Spálené Poříčí and Mighty Sounds in Tábor. Additionally, the traditional Day in Budvar will be yet another important event with a various musical programme, taking place on the 10th September this year.
