Budweiser Budvar Premium Lager came second in the “Czech Maltsters Award 2008” contest
Budweiser Budvar Premium Lager came second in the “pale lager” category in the autumn “Czech Maltsters Award” contest. Traditionally, this category has many strong contestants and this year was no different since altogether 20 trademarks took part in it.
The “Czech Maltsters Award” contest has been organised by the “Pivní kurýr “ magazine for no fewer than 15 years and takes place twice a year. While the spring contest is set for small or mini breweries, the autumn one is for medium and larger breweries. This year’s autumn contest took place in Kostelec nad Černými lesy in its local brewery on Thursday 25th September. 79 brands from 18 breweries applied for the competition and were evaluated in eight categories by 24 Czech maltsters and brewing experts.
“The evaluation was carried out in two rounds. Beer samples were drawn for each of the selection boards to keep a maximum objectivity, therefore I appreciate the award very much,” says Budweiser Budvar’s production engineer at the same time a member of one of the panels Aleš Dvořák.
The silver Czech Maltsters Award has been the fourth award received by a Budweiser Budvar product this year. In April, the pale draught beer Pardál was awarded “The Consumer’s Choice - the Best Newcomer of 2008” in the Beer category; in June, the Swiss weekly newspaper Sonntag awarded Budweiser Budvar Premium Lager the European beer champion title and at the beginning of September, Budweiser Budvar Dark Lager was awarded silver in the “Dark Lager” category in professional tasting on the occasion of the Žatec (Saaz) Final Harvest Celebration.
