Special theatrical tours of the brewery in historical costumes are going to take place again in April

Responding to strong demand, Budweiser Budvar’s Visitor Centre is going to repeat its special theatrical tours of the brewery this year again with actors dressed in historical costumes in the roles of tour guides. Through acting they will transfer visitors to the times of the brewery’s founding and other key points in its history. During April, only four tours will be held - every Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. The tickets for the price of CZK 200 must be booked in advance.

Budweiser Budvar has just expanded its product portfolio with a very interesting and unusual novelty intended for customers seeking local fresh foodstuffs. The new product will be sold under the name of JUST DRAWN LAGER in 0.5-litre bottles. It is non-pasteurized pale lager Budweiser Budvar B: ORIGINAL, the bottles of which are taken off the production line just past the bottle filler, not undergoing pasteurization and labelling. The bottle is hand-labelled with an atypical tag and quickly transported to a shop. Owing to the requirements for a speedy delivery, the JUST DRAWN LAGER is only going to be sold in České Budejovice. The shelf-life of this beer is 10 days, if stored in the dark and at a temperature below 10 °C.

This week, five years has passed since Budweiser Budvar launched beer in non-returnable KeyKeg barrels on the market. The radical technological innovation has proved to be a useful tool for developing global export. Budweiser Budvar has used the non-returnable kegs in countries where the secondary transport of common barrels to particular restaurants and back is either expensive or complicated - for example in Russia, Australia and Brazil. During five years, the volume of beer supplied in non-returnable kegs has tripled the number of export countries increasing from five to 17.

The Masné krámy restaurant's head chef is going to provide the guests will yet another load of savouries, as the thematic gourmet event called “Duck specialties” will include a total of nine dishes made from duck meat. The visitors will be able to learn that besides the universally popular roast duck with dumplings and cooked cabbage, duck can be prepared in many other ways. Ducks exclusively of Czech breeding are going to be supplied by the companies of Nové Hrady Fishery and Vodňany Poultry.

As of 15th March, selected restaurants in the Czech Republic and other six countries will start drawing the seasonal specialty BUD B:STRONG made from fresh hops. This limited edition was brewed on 26th August 2015. The hopping was carried out by hand-adding fresh cones of Saaz “poloraný červeňák” hops from the “Splav” hop field in the cadastre of the hop-growing municipality of Blšany. BUD B:STRONG is a unique product with the gravity of 16 and the ABV of 7,5%, having a more distinct hop aroma, a higher bitterness and a delicate yeast flavour.

In 2015, the Budweiser Budvar brewery’s production facilities were viewed by 51,749 people, which constitutes a 10% YOY increase. Most tourists came from the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. Foreign visitors participated from 77%, coming from 80 countries. The number of Chinese tripled last year, while the number of tourists from the United Kingdom nearly doubled. Conversely, a significant decrease by 50% occurred with visitors from Russia. Budweiser Budvar Visitor extended last year’s range of services by extraordinary theatrical brewery tours in period costumes. July 2015 saw the reconstruction of the multimedia exhibition “The Story of beer from Budweis” completed. The interest in the brewery tours had been growing in the long term, rising by 44% in five years.

Budweiser Budvar Brewery has surpassed another magic threshold in its history, confirming the long-term trend of increasing interest in Budweiser Budvar and Pardál beer brands. On Thursday, 11th February 2016 the total amount of beer brewed at this brewery exceeded a volume of 50 million hectolitres. In the first year from its foundation (economic year 1895/1896), the brewery’s total production amounted to 35,223 hl.

Budweiser Budvar Brewery has long been successful in increasing its beer sales both at home and abroad. Over the past 10 years, its production increased by 39%. The positive trend continued in 2015 as well. Last year’s beer production rose to 1.6 million hectolitres, which represents a 10% increase. The company flourished abroad, where the volume grew by 10.5%. The increase by 9% in the domestic market constitutes a great success. The 2015 brewery's receipts grew by 8% year-on-year, exceeding the value of CZK 2,550 million. To further develop the brewery, investment into expanding the logistics and production capacities is thus essential.
