The Czech and Moravian Beer Academy awarded Budweiser Budvar the ‘Brewery of 2013’

Last week, the Czech and Moravian Beer Academy awarded 2013 annual prizes in a total of 17 categories. Budweiser Budvar, N.C. won in the category of breweries with annual sales over 500,000 hectolitres, defending its last year’s victory.

Budějovický Budvar Brewery has won a lawsuit over the BUDWEISER trademark in Portugal

Budějovický Budvar Brewery has won a lawsuit over the BUDWEISER trademark in Portugal. The court cancelled the trademark of Anheuser-Busch Inc. (hereinafter referred to as ABI) with the BUDWEISER element, banning this company from selling any beer labelled BUDWEISER or similarly, while dismissing ABI’s petition to cancel trademarks owned by Budějovický Budvar. This has been a second victory for Budějovický Budvar in Portugal within a short time.  Last December, the Lisbon Commercial Court fully supported Budějovický Budvar in another case, rejecting the registration of four new trademarks with the BUDWEISER element by ABI.

The Danish cider brand of Somersby has launched a website in Czech

The premium apple cider of the Danish brand of Somersby was launched on the Czech market in June 2012. Since this beverage particularly appeals to younger consumers, the on-line communication represents an essential part of the brand’s marketing mix. Following a Czech version of the Facebook profile, a Czech website has now been launched at Last year, Somersby Cider was available in the apple and pear versions on the Czech market, and the interest in it significantly increased.

A traditional South Bohemian pig slaughtering in the Masné krámy restaurant

The Masné krámy restaurant in České Budějovice is again preparing a traditional South Bohemian pig slaughtering. A master butcher with his helpers is going to start making hash-and-crumbs sausages, black pudding and other delicacies from the fresh ingredients directly on the pavement of Krajinská St. before the eyes of onlookers at 2 p.m. on 24th January. The made delicacies will swiftly turn up on the tables in the Masné krámy restaurant. This “butcher art” will mark the beginning of the Pork Feast, which takes place until 2nd February.

Budweiser Budvar Brewery had a successful year

8.1.2014 České Budějovice

Budweiser Budvar, N.C. had a successful business year. The volume of sold beer amounting to 1,424,000 hectolitres was the biggest in the brewery’s history, accomplishing a year-on-year increase of 6.2%. The export achieved record results too, as 763,000 hectolitres of beer travelled to 65 countries. The beer sales grew year-on-year by CZK 94 million, thus reaching a historical maximum of CZK 2,223 million. The brewery expects the 2013 business results to affect positively the corporation’s profit increase as well as its other economic parameters.
